Sessions take place 3 times a week and is a very successful scheme that was set up 2008 and has continued to grow in popularity.
The sessions are based around improving cardiovascular fitness and are focused on those who have a heart condition and the over 50’s.
It is a fun and friendly way to ensure fitness and aims to improve the quality of people’s lives.
GP referral is a specialist scheme that was introduced in 2005. The first port of call is the GP referring patients to Concord who meet a certain criteria.
These people may want to lose weight, be an older adult or have too low a self esteem to come to gym.
They then go on a 12 week programme which allows them to have discounted entry, using all of the facilities for just £2.50 and have their own fitness specialist, Dave Birds. Dave has been a referral consultant for 5 years and has seen hundreds of people pass through the scheme.
This is a specialist scheme which works predominantly with people who have suffered a cardiac attack and have previously completed a phase 3 cardiac rehab elsewhere.
These patients attend a six week programme that aims to gradually increase fitness levels. Due to the nature of their condition a lot more attention is needed to ensure that they do not suffer another cardiac event.
After the 6 weeks, it is encouraged that those who feel adequate, take up regular exercise within the gym under supervision.
